27. Juli
Up to new doings!
On the way to Matala! We reached the beautiful beach, which is bordered from yellow rocks, at 10.15. Old hippies looked out of the caves, though it is forbitten to house there now, because they forshat the whole scenery! I did a lot of photos, then we checks us. We visited other interesting points of the south - such as Aghia Galini, and then the Monastery Arkadi. We were there at the best phototime, best light to take the pictures of this holy point.
Pictures will follow, also of the very nice waitress in Aghia Galini, which poors two beers over us, probably we looked out as dangerous ghosts.

26th, July
This was the day of the Sirs! We only drove to the center of Malia, where a special watching point is located. There You can see within a few minutes accidents, half naked younger people, drunken youngsters, very fat behindpieces - broader than the quads, which can be rent there. The quadriders drive without any knowledges of trafficrules, bad accidents fill the hospitals of the region. There we sat more than one hour - and saw all these things! Afterwards I visited a longtimeknown girl - now a wife with 2 cildren. She has a silver store on the mainstreet of Malia. After a second beer at the watchingcorner we strolled to the beach, where the common people stole God the day.
Back in the hotel at 14.00. Swimming in the sea and pool, preparations for the next day, camera service, ...
Powerful dinner - we beat us the bellies full!
Afterwards we sat in the houseown taverna and watched the peoples passing by - better than cinema!

25. Juli
Ein weiterer langer Trip steht uns bevor: PREVELI
Zuerst beuchen wir einen unglaublich schoen gelegenen See in der Naehe von Georgiopolis, idyllisch zwischen den Bergen und dann gehts in die Berge - ueber die Lefka Ori in den Sueden - eine grandiose Bergwelt empfaengt den Reisenden bis hoch hinauf auf den Sattel. Allerdings ist mancher Streckenabschnitt Steinschlag gefaehrdet!
Und erst die Abfahrt nach Frangokastello!
Nahezu lotrecht ist die Gebirgswand gegen Sueden! Engste Serpentinen, schmale Strasse - mir ist ganz schoen mulmig bei der Abfahrt, doch ich zittere mich und uns hinunter.
Nach einer mittaeglichen Staerkung in Frangokastello gehts weiter nach Preveli! Das Kloster ist fuer uns aus zeitlichen Gruenden nicht besichtigbar, daher schauen wir uns den tollen Badestrand, mit Palmen entlang des einmuendenden Flusses an (von oben). Traumhaft schoen wie immer! Klettere wegen noch besserer Fotopositionen ein Stueck den Steilhang hinunter - und finde den Weg zurueck nicht mehr!!! Versteige mich in der Macchie und den Felsabstuerzen immer mehr, und bin schon bald am Ende meiner Kraefte! Dazu brennt die Sonne mit aller Staerke auf den Hang - schweissgebadet!
Schon beginnt die Lage kritisch zu werden, da erscheint der Retter in der Not - Karli, der schon von der Schluchtkante nach mir Ausschau haelt! Er kommt mir auf einem halbwegs gangbaren Weg entgegen und geleitet mich hinauf! Bin ziemlich geschafft und trinke 7 Liter Wasser!
Wir laben uns dann noch bei einer Taverne und durch die wunderschoene Berglandschaft gehts zurueck ins Hotel, wo wir um 19 Uhr eintrudeln. 450 erlebnisreiche Kilometer!

Early in the morning we drove like singed pigs to the western shore and reached Falassarna at 1030. A dreadful scenery! Then we rode along the west coast to the south. Fantastic steepcoast! And then Elafonisi! A grand beach similar to Caribbean Islands! The travel handbook said: a secret tip! But what a disappointment! Many thousand people were here! Instead of the water in turquoise colors I only saw heads, heads and heads - mostly in red due to the merciless sun! So I only shot a few photos, and then we shook the dust from our feet and fled homewards crosswise. After more than 5ookm we reached our hotel. My love swan - really a hard day!

Halbinsel (Halfisland) Akrotiri
Zum ersten Mal besuchten wir dieses Gebiet, bis vor nicht allzu langer
Zeit waren Teile der Halbinsel aus militärischen Gründen gesperrt. Über Chania geht's nach Norden nach Stavros. Der hochgelobte Strand ist wohl hübsch zum Baden, mehr aber nicht. Optisch durchschnittlich. Absolut sehenswert ist das Kloster Ag. Triada. Das Kloster Gouvernetou ist meist geschlossen, konnten es nicht besichtigen, ebenso das Kloster Moni Kourakis.
Anschließend noch ein Besuch auf dem Soldatenfriedhof in Maleme. Beklemmend die Gräberreihen der mehr als 4tausend Toten noch dem Angriff der Fallschirmjäger. Anstrengender Tag! 45o km.

22. 7. SÜDEN
Schon in aller Frühe fuhren wir hinauf auf die Lassithi Hochebene. Fotografierten die Riesenplatane in Krasi und hatten ein Gratis Frühstück oben am Ampelou Pass, da ich Fotos ablieferte. Ebenso bei der Psichro Höhle. Auf einer laut Reiseführer NEUEN UND GUT AUSGEBAUTEN Straße (in Wirklichkeit very adventurely! auf einem schotterigen Strässchen,
auf einem Schwindel erregenden Pfad und durch eine Schlucht ) nach Keratokambos. "Unser" Tavernenwirt, den wir schon seit 20 Jahren kennen, war erfreut über unseren Besuch und Fotos. Retsina gratis!
Zurück um 17 Uhr, dann griechischer Abend mit tollem Buffet und Live Musik.

Today we overtook our rental car, a Toyota RAV4, at 11 am. We parked it mm the new parking place of the hotel Alexander Beach, which is sured by a beattree against the common people of the street. After midday we started to Spinalonga. There rode us the devil, because we chose a street, which was under the devil! Very narrow and full of beatholes! We were very relieved, when we reached Agios Nikolaos. There we had a drink, and then we held file mouthapes!
We returned at 1830. We were very hungry, so we ate like barnthreshers. And now we are tired and throw us into the trap. Good night friends, pictures of the day will follow early in the morning!

Today's impressions

Today we landed in time at 0830 in Iraklio. No chaos at the baggage belts! The transfer brought us through godleft settlements like Gouves and others, every time accompanied by blooming Oleanders to Chersonissos. There was the hell off! When we reached our hotel in Malia, we were ready, no sleep this night.! Therefore we fell asleep till 1700. Then rode us the devil, and we took part on the VIP greeting. Grand drinks! Drunken! Therefore dinner fell out!

The same CREW as 2014 is starting on Sunday to a 2500km photo-expedition to the island of CRETE.
From the left side: Otto (navigation with map, living money bag, specialist for difficult paths, historian), then Willi (historian, friend of greek cuisine, gold medal for drinking Mythos beer, optimist, soul of the expedition), Herbert (CEO of the expedition, photographer, organisation, navigation with Navi, geographer, gold medal for eating Calamari and Pastitsio, driver, gold medal for drinking Retsina, ...), Karli (driver, eats more than two persons, specialist for all kinds of wine, geographer, specialist for extrem climbing - mountain guide)
